The Finnish Association of Translators and Interpreters was founded in 1955, when many translators felt that their individual efforts were insufficient to protect their rights. As a cultural organisation, one of SKTL’s primary goals is to underscore the position of translation and interpreting as part of Finnish culture.
You can join SKTL during your studies or later, and we will remain here to support you throughout your career. Membership will underline your position as a representative of a respected profession. We listen carefully to translation and interpreting professionals, and run our activities accordingly. Members can directly influence SKTL’s decision-making via the sections and local branches.
